When French sailing journalist Nobert Conchin test sailed the very first HopYacht 30, we held our breath, hoping like crazy he would approve of the concept. We had come a long way from the initial sketches and we were delighted with how the prototype had turned out. However, Norbert is a seasoned blue water sailor and we wondered how he would react to a yacht designed for short hops on coastal and inland waters and how would he enjoy having just a single sail? Here’s an extract from Norbert’s test sail report in Multihulls World Magazine.
'This is a catamaran that has ripped up the rulebook, and come up with a (r)evolutionary concept: For the first time, a combination of comfort and liveability has been brought together in an ultra-easy-to-handle boat under 10 meters in length.'
‘This hugely positive review meant the world to us, especially from someone who has experienced sailing a broad cross-section of the world's leading yacht brands.
Our HopYacht YouTube Channel has also had a steady stream of positive comments, however we do get the occasional negative comment that may have been written by people who just don't get the HopYacht concept, or perhaps the HopYacht 30 is just too much of a departure from the norm.
One of the most recent comments we have had that made us all chuckle, was from a prospective owner, who described the boat as 'so easy to sail, it's perfect for couples to enjoy seriously relaxed sailing, without be forced to entertain people, just because you need crew!' What makes you think this is also a seasoned sailor? :-)
Hope to see you in La Rochelle!
